Alexander Minton. Dylan Dever, James Babst and Leo Cichosz were the school’s first foursome to qualify for the 22-school state field.

In one hour, Auburn Mountainview’s young chefs served up a risotto salad, filet mignon dressed in gorgonzola scallion compound butter, accompanied by a risotto with spring vegetables and asparagus with portobello mushrooms and prosciutto. The meal was capped off with a chocolate mousse and dipped strawberries.

Student culinary teams competed in contests challenging their knife skills, preparation techniques and presentation abilities. Judges scored various performance aspects, such as kitchen organization and equipment usage, safety and sanitation, taste and presentation. Oak Harbor won the culinary and management competitions, earning a berth in the ProStart National Invitational at Overland Park, Kansas on April 30-May 2.
