Eric Robertson, president of the Auburn Noon Lions Club and Valley Regional Fire Authority administrator, recently delivered a check for $2,500 to support the Barrier-Free Playground project.

Daryl Faber, director of the City of Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department, was on hand to receive it on behalf of the program.

The playground, designed for children with disabilities, will be constructed in the Les Gove Park with funding from grants and community contributions. It is set to open in June.

The Lions Club raises money for the blind and sight impaired, deaf and hearing impaired, and the youth in the community.

“Supporting the Barrier Free for our community was a natural fit for our mission as Lions,” Robertson said.

City officials will hold a public groundbreaking ceremony at 10:30 a.m., April 5 at the park, located at 910 9th St. SE.
