Auburn police blotter | April 12

Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between March 28 and April 2.

April 1

Trespassing: 5:40 a.m., 2117 Auburn Way S. Thumbing his nose at a previous order directing him to stay away from the Muckleshoot Bingo Hall, a man tested the barring notice, thereby bringing in the police and earning himself a swell citation for first-degree trespassing. Police released him at the scene.

Burglary: 6 a.m., 4205 Auburn Way S. Somebody broke into somebody’s shed and made off with several hand tools of undisclosed make and value.

Theft: Overnight. A thief, or thieves, stole 16 tires of undisclosed value from a tire rack at Mike Scarff Subaru.

Theft: 1 a.m., 32000 block of 108th Avenue Southeast. Thieves unknown made off with a vehicle that had been parked in front of a home overnight. The owner had also left his phone and wallet inside.

Obstructing justice: 11:57 p.m., 1521 D St. NE. A suspicious man in the Days Inn parking lot fibbed to police about his name before running. When police caught up with him, they discovered on his person a possible reason for his unsuccessful skedaddle: a drug pipe, a metal knuckle and a switch blade knife.

Vandalism: 9:55 a.m., 4910 A St. SE. Somebody vandalized public artwork in an undisclosed manner.

Theft: 7 a.m., 1620 Industry Drive SW. Thieves stole an undisclosed number of propane tanks.

April 2

Theft: 2:09 a.m., 2010 block of C Street Southeast. Somebody swiped an undisclosed amount of money and a Social Security card from a man’s vehicle in front of his home.

Theft: 6 a.m., 2008 63rd St. SE. Somebody stole electrical wire from a construction site during the course of the previous two days. Police did not offer any estimate of the value.

Burglary: Overnight, 1101 Supermall Way SW. An unknown somebody squeezed through a small gap to enter a closed business. Just what the thief did after that is a mite murky because he or she didn’t take anything.

Shoplifting: 12:40 p.m., 1702 Auburn Way N. Police arrested a man for shoplifting undisclosed items from a store formerly known in police reports as Top Foods but now referred to only as the bland “1700 block of Auburn Way North.”

Theft: 3:10 p.m., 762 Supermall Drive SW. A woman forgot her purse in a changing room at an undisclosed business. When the woman returned, the purse was there, but the money and other items were missing.

Shoplifting: 2:37 p.m., 1231 Auburn Way N. Store security caught a female — girl, teen, senior citizen, police didn’t say — shoplifting something undisclosed from a store. The thief took to her heels when she learned police were on the way.
