Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between Aug. 20 and 24:
Aug. 20
Theft: 7:51 a.m., 9 15th St. NW. A thief swiped golf clubs, a metal detector and a toolbox from a vehicle parked at the Guesthouse Inn, resulting in losses undisclosed.
Burglary: 7:32 a.m., 531 A St. SE. Thieves unknown stole a large amount of copper wire from a railroad connex trailer over the weekend.
Trespassing: 5:38 p.m., 6000 block of 35th Place SE. The woman told her boyfriend he wasn’t welcome at her home, he showed up anyway, police busted him.
DUI: 5:13 p.m., 10800 Lea Hill Road SE. A man flipped over his vehicle, ran from the scene and police arrested him for DUI and hit and run.
Theft: 6:36 p.m., 5700 block of 37th Street Southeast. A tenant who had been living with a woman and her husband is suspected of making off with $10,000 in miscellaneous jewelry sometime between July 10 and July 30.
Theft: 6:04 p.m., 700 West Valley Highway N. Somebody stole a wheel from a vehicle parked at the Park and Ride.
Vandalism: 9:27 p.m., 30620 116th Avenue SE. Sometime in the evening somebody damaged a window on a portable building at a middle school, the identity of which police declined to name in keeping with custom but it turned out to be Rainier Middle School.
Aug. 21
Theft: 4:50 p.m., 1403 Auburn Way S. A guy parked his truck in a lot to fetch pizza and when he returned found a man swiping a nail gun from the back of the vehicle.
Assault on officer: 9:28 p.m., 20817 17th Avenue S. A man arrested on an Auburn warrant kicked his arresting officer in the gut at the SCORE Jail in Des Moines, earning himself a bonus charge of third-degree assault.
Aug. 22
Fraud: 5:45 p.m., 1210 Auburn Way N. A woman assumed she was buying stolen iPads at a good price but when she opened the boxes found only ceramic tiles.
Aug. 23
Disorderly conduct: 3:20 p.m., 500 Auburn Way S. Police arrested a man after his forceful begging got a bit too insistent.
Aug. 24
Controlled substance: 1:39 a.m., 4300 Auburn Way N. A woman remembered to stuff methamphetamines into her bra and heroin into her purse but had neglected that pesky bit about needing to have a driver’s license when she drove. During a traffic stop, police took exception, busted the woman and searching her found the drugs and the source of her illegal smile.
Accident with property damage: 3:32 p.m., 110 Cross St. SE. A semi truck and trailer got hung up on Comcast Cable wire.
