Feb. 9

Theft: 4:48 p.m., 1102 Auburn Way S. The iPod Shuffle’s owner said somebody stole it from a table at the Auburn Library, but the boy who had the gizmo in his possession claimed he, you know, just sort of found it. A witness gave police information that led to the device.

Fraud: Overnight, 29500 block of 54th Court South. Somebody in far-off Connecticut used an Auburn resident’s credit card fraudulently several times at various gas stations.

Theft from vehicle: 11:52 p.m., 1502 N St. NE. After breaking into a man’s truck, somebody swiped a Ruger .45-caliber pistol. Police did not disclose a value for the missing pistol.

Feb. 11

Possession of cocaine: 12:08 p.m., 1825 K St. SE. The authorities at Olympic Middle School expelled a student from school. Police are charging him with being in possession of cocaine and of displaying gang behavior.

Vandalism: 8:14 p.m., 1700 block of 22nd Street Northeast. A male — old, young, somewhere between, police didn’t say — told police that somebody shot out the driver’s side window of his father’s truck. Police later found five additional vehicles that had suffered the same fate.

Feb. 12

Theft: Noon, 1529 8th Street Northeast. Somebody stole a wallet from Diamond Nails. The employee thought a customer had pocketed the wallet, but no one saw who actually did the thieving.

Shoplifting: 2:31 p.m., 101 Auburn Way S. After store security caught some dude swiping undisclosed mystery food from Safeway, police arrested him for shoplifting and booked his thieving self into the SCORE jail facility.

Theft: 8 p.m., 200 block of 37th Street Southeast. A woman claimed her soon-to-be ex-roomate stole $330 from her as she was moving out of their residence, although she did not actually see her steal the money. The woman does not know where the roommate has moved or how to get in touch with her.

Theft from pocket: 10:05 p.m., 2707 I Street NE. A woman reported that somebody reached into her husband’s coat pocket and stole his cell phone while he was looking for work at Worksource.

Shoplifting: 8:39 p.m., 1222 Supermall Way SW. Two thieves pretended to be interested in purchasing a piece of jewelry from a store, so the clerk allowed one of them to try it on, whereupon both men ran off with the jewelry. Police could not find them and did not disclose a value for the missing jewelry.

Feb. 13

Theft of bicycle: 11:38 a.m., 2300 block of I Street Northeast. Somebody swiped a bicycle. Police did not disclose a value for the missing bike.

Theft from vehicle: 12:39 p.m., 32100 block of 105th Place Southeast. Somebody stole a DVD player, a purse, a camera and diabetic supplies from a vehicle.

Shoplifting: 2:20 p.m., shoplifting. The words “and don’t come back to Safeway” apparently made a speedy trip through one of a man’s ears and out the other because police busted him for trespassing at the aforesaid store and for shoplifting mystery items.

Shoplifting: 3:50 p.m., 762 Supermall Drive SW. A female – young, old, somewhere in the middle, police didn’t say – thought she could get away with thieving from Walmart, but store officials who thought otherwise gave chase and caught said female. Police then arrested the female for shoplifting undisclosed items worth undisclosed amounts and for a warrant that had her name attached to it.

Shoplifting: 3:53 p.m., 1702 Auburn Way N. Police arrested a woman for shoplifting two Butterfinger candy bars. When police searched the woman, they found drug paraphernalia on her person.

Obstructing justice: 9:36 p.m., 3300 block of M Street Southeast. A woman fibbed about her name, so police arrested her for making false statements to a public servant. Police later discovered that the woman also had a warrant issued for her arrest out of Auburn.

Theft: 9:48 p.m., 12100 block of Southeast 310th Street. Police responding to a report of wires being cut to street lights determined that an unknown person removed covers from the street lights and cut about 1,000 feet of wire. Puget Sound Energy responded to the scene to test for live wires and to replace what had been stolen.

Theft: 1:35 a.m., 333 15th St. NE. Somebody stole a patron’s wallet at the Iron Horse Casino. The owner later discovered bogus charges on a credit card.

Feb. 14

DUI: 1:40 a.m., 200 block of 3rd Street. Police arrested a man for DUI after watching him nearly collide with a concrete barrier over the Charles Booth Bridge. The man’s blood alcohol levels turned out to be .178 and .184, more than twice the legal limit.
