May 17

Strongarm robbery: 9:38 a.m. 1406 Lake Tapps Parkway. Police arrested a 20-year-old man for assaulting an employee of Top Food & Drug who had tried to stop him from shoplifting.

May 23

Arson: 6:51 p.m., 600 block of 24th St. SE. Somebody, or several somebodies, torched a couch in a back yard.

Theft: Overnight, 3700 block of Auburn Way S. A man told police that somebody had broken into his work truck and swiped hand tools of undisclosed value.

Theft: Overnight, 1900 block of Riverview Drive. Somebody broke into a man’s work truck overnight and stole his Sig Sauer handgun. Police did not disclose a value for the missing weapon.

Theft: Overnight, 3400 block of Academy Drive Southeast. A man complained somebody had swiped his potted tree overnight.

Firearm robbery: 5:26 p.m., 1241 Auburn Way N. A man punched and pushed a woman down in a store parking lot to steal her jewelry, got one necklace and ran away. Officers caught up with him a couple blocks away after a foot pursuit. During said pursuit, police saw the man toss a gun away. Because the man was a convicted felon, police added unlawful possession of a firearm to his first-degree robbery charge.

Theft: 7:40 a.m., 12500 block of Southeast 299th Street. An Auburn resident reported that somebody had stolen copper wire from light poles. Police did not disclose a value for the missing wire.

Theft: 9 a.m., 1808 B St. NW. Somebody swiped drain gates from a parking lot. Police did not disclose a value for the drain gates.

May 24

Theft: 6:10 p.m.. 4010 A St SE. Somebody stole a purse from a vehicle parked in the Albertsons parking lot. Police did not disclose a value for the missing purse.
