An Auburn police officer was shaken but unhurt after the driver of an oncoming sedan turned in front of him on A Street Southeast in Auburn shortly after 3 p.m. Friday.

The veteran officer, shaken from a deployed air bag in the collision, was taken to Auburn Regional Medical Center for observation, according to Cmdr. Mike Hirman.

The Valley Regional Fire Authority was on the scene.

The officer was traveling northbound in the 1600 block of A Street Southeast when the driver of a southbound four-door sedan turned left in front of the police cruiser. The sedan, while turning left onto 16th Street Southeast, clipped the cruiser, which struck the right rear door of the car, Hirman said.

The vehicle’s three occupants, all in their 20s, declined treatment and appeared to have had minor injuries, the VRFA reported.
