Auburn, Puyallup to offer weather spotter training

The City of Auburn, in conjunction with the National Weather Service (NWS) and the City of Puyallup, is offering weather spotter training.

Class will be held at Puyallup City Hall in Council Chambers located at 333 S. Meridian on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 5-9 p.m.

The free class is taught by NOAA weather staff from Seattle. Attendees will be taught how to provide the NWS with timely and accurate severe weather reports. These reports are an integral part of the NWS mission to help save lives and property through flood and weather watches, warnings and advisories. Those who finish the training will have the opportunity to become Skywarn (TM) weather spotters.

Skywarn is a National Weather Service team of volunteers, trained to observe and report significant weather in order to support their local community and emergency managers.

To register for the class, contact City of Auburn Emergency Management at 253-876-1925 or visit www.auburnwa.gov/disaster for an application. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
