Auburn to be a part of worldwide FIRST Robotics Competition on Saturday

Auburn High School will be one of four venues to host the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition with a worldwide kickoff event Saturday.

Auburn High School will be one of four venues to host the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition with a worldwide kickoff event Saturday.

More than 100 Washington teams in Auburn, Lynnwood, Cheney and Vancouver will join 45,000 high school students to launch the global game of skill and precision.

Students gathering in Auburn and the other three cities also will get the opportunity to tune in via a live NASA-TV broadcast to learn about the game field and challenge for the first time.

Teams have six weeks to design and build robots prior to the Seattle Regional Competition at Qwest Field on March 17-19.

Competition at Auburn High School, located at 800 4th St. NE, will be from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. The NASA-TV broadcast start time is 7:30 a.m.

The public is invited.
