The inaugural 2 Million Puppy Up! Walk will be held Sunday morning at Auburn’s Roegner Park, part of national campaign to bring awareness to canine cancer and comparative oncology.

Proceeds from the 11:30 a.m. two-mile walk will benefit the cause.

Two Million dogs 2 Miles, a non-profit organization, is organized the national effort, spurred by the story of Luke Robinson, who lost his beloved companion, Malcolm, to metastatic bone cancer in 2006.

In 2008, Robinson, along with two of his dogs, walked 2000 miles, from Austin, Texas, to Boston, after losing Malcolm – fulfilling a promise to Malcolm to raise awareness of canine cancer – one mile, one city, one person at a time. His journey took him two years to complete.

Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. Food and entertainment will be offered from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the park, located at 601 Oravetz Road.

Pre-register online – www.2milliondogs.org – on or before today is $20. Day-of-the-event registration is $25.

Receive a bandana and 2 Million Dogs Bracelet with entry fee.

The first 100 participants to raise or donate $100 will receive a walk T-shirt and bandana.
