The Mayor’s Institute on City Design will be held at Auburn City Hall on Aug. 31-Sept. 2.

With the help of the University of Washington’s College of Built Environments, city staff, developers and local stakeholders will offer recommendations for the eight-block downtown redevelopment area and beyond.

The public is invited to attend a public reception at the Veterans Memorial Building, located at 405 E St. NE, on Aug. 31, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and the MICD final presentation at Auburn City Hall, located at 25 West Main St., on Sept. 2, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The MICD is a re-visitation of the City of Auburn’s plan that was presented in 2007 to MICD West, a regional session co-hosted by the University of Washington, where Mayor Pete Lewis presented his vision for the City’s Downtown Revitalization Strategic Plan.

In March, the City made an application to MICD for a three-day design assistance session with an urban design team to evaluate the City’s downtown redevelopment area, located adjacent to the Sound Transit Commuter Rail System.
