Auburn United, a Night of Basketball & Giving

Trojans, Lions doubleheader on Dec. 20 will raise money to benefit Auburn boy and Seattle Children’s in their fight against kidney cancer

The boys and girls basketball programs at Auburn and Auburn Mountainview high schools have joined together to raise money, support the fight against kidney cancer and help Raylan Bender, an 18-month-old boy, who was stricken by the disease.

The Trojans and Lions play roundball for Raylan in a doubleheader on Thursday, Dec. 20 at the Auburn Mountainview High School gymnasium, 8900 124th Ave. SE. The girls tip off at 5:45 p.m., with the boys following at 7:30.

Proceeds from Auburn United, a Night of Basketball & Giving will benefit Raylan, his family and Seattle Children’s, where the boy will be treated.

Raylan, Kyal and Robin’s son, is recovering after having his kidney removed last October. The parents attended both schools. The boy’s grandfather taught in the district.

Fans can contribute to the cause by bidding on a courtside table for five, a package that includes an appetizer, dinner, desserts and drinks, for each game. Bidding closes at 3 p.m. Dec. 19.

Money also is being raised through the sale of $10 shirts, $10 baked potato bar sales and halftime Miracle Minute donations.
