Fitzpatrick went through boot camp with the Mike-184 Company and graduated as a Fireman (E-3) on March 4. Fitzpatrick obtained the E-3 rating due to his active participation in the Washington Wing, Civil Air Patrol, Green River Composite Squadron and the Auburn Police Explorer Post 2171.

In addition to fulfilling his boot camp requirements, Fitzpatrick, who played in the Auburn High School Symphonic Band under the direction of Ryan Tanaka, was selected to play in the recruit training band while he was there.

Fitzpatrick has been assigned to serve on the Coast Guard Cutter Midgett (WHEC-726), which is home-ported at U.S. Coast Guard Station Seattle (Pier 36). Fitzpatrick will train aboard the Midgett for the next four to six months. During this period he will have the opportunity to choose the job category (rating) he would like to pursue in the Coast Guard and request the “A” school for that rating.
