Broken chimney causes attic fire, displaces 2 adults

An attic fire caused by a broken Chimney displaced two adults from their home located in the 6200 block of South 287th street in Auburn on Saturday morning. Damage to the home is estimated at approximately $30,000.

An attic fire caused by a broken Chimney displaced two adults from their home located in the 6200 block of South 287th street in Auburn on Saturday morning. Damage to the home is estimated at approximately $30,000.

A neighbor called 911 at 4:04 a.m. after they noticed smoke coming from their neighbors single-story home. Three fire engines, two aid units and a battalion chief from the Valley Regional Fire Authority and Kent fire departments responded. The attic fire was extinguished and all residents were confirmed to have evacuated. There were no injuries reported to civilians or fire personnel.

The displaced residents will be staying with friends until other arrangements can be made.
