For the Reporter
Portland area artist John Allgood’s colorful reduction linocut prints are on display at the Auburn City Hall Gallery throughout June.
The gallery, at 25 W. Main St., is open to the public 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Allgood’s recent series showcases reduction linocut prints of rural scenes and landscapes. Reduction printing involves the use of a single plate of linoleum or wood that the artist prints several times. The artist removes areas by cutting into the linoleum with a sharp tool. When the printing process is complete, almost all of the printing plate surface has been cut away. Each completed image has its own unique personality.
The Auburn Arts Commission and Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation presents the gallery.
