The City of Pacific will host an open house and Sept. 11 remembrance at Fire Station 38, 133 3rd Ave. SE, beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday.

“The event is being held in memory of those who died that day, but also in remembrance of how we came together,” said Pacific Mayor Richard Hildreth. “This event is not to rehash the horrible events that happened that day, but to remember the heroic actions of first-responders, many of whom also lost their lives that day when the towers collapsed. This event will be a celebration of how we came together as a nation.”

Elected officials, Valley Regional Fire Authority firefighters and the City of Pacific Police Department will be on hand. Hot dogs and refreshments will be served.

The VRFA’s new ladder truck also will be on display.

The public can learn more about personal and community preparedness, as well as the Tunnel to Towers run firefighters participate in each year.
