City of Pacific to host Cert Meeting Jan. 15

The City of Pacific will hold an organizational meeting of CERT members at Pacific City Hall tonight at 6 p.m. City Hall is located at 100 3rd Ave. S.E.

Although the main focus of the meeting will be organizing current graduates and to discuss additional training, citizens who may be interested in learning more about CERT are invited as well.

CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Teams, a citizen-based program enhancing emergency preparedness and response. This meeting will allow residents to meet current graduates of the program and better understand how it can benefit you and your family.

Additionally, the City will be hosting a classroom version of ICS 100 (an Introduction to the Incident Command System) in February. Although available online, the classroom version allows for interaction and opportunity to participate in exercises. This allows the student to gain a much stronger grasp of these important concepts of emergency management. ICS is the management tool that guides emergency and event planning, response and recovery. Additional details on this class will be at the meeting.
