Driver hits, injures pedestrian in Auburn

An Auburn man struck and seriously injured a pedestrian Thursday, Auburn police reported.

An Auburn man struck and seriously injured a pedestrian Thursday, Auburn police reported.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a 20-year-old man, driving south on J Street Southeast, struck a woman in her late 20s, and then struck a parked car in front of the victim’s vehicle.

The victim walked around to the street side of her car when she was hit, police said.

The driver did stop and wait for fire, medics and police to arrive. He was arrested. Charges are pending.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

Investigators are evaluating whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

According to the Valley Regional Fire Authority, personnel were dispatched to the scene at 901 1st SE. Firefighters arrived to find the woman in the road, unconscious with life-threatening injuries.

The patient was treated and transported by Valley Regional firefighters and Medic One and transported to Harborview.
