EmDowns to host inaugural South King County ‘Friends of NRA’

The South King County Friends of NRA Committee will be conducting its first annual banquet and fundraiser Saturday, Nov. 8 at Emerald Downs, 2300 Emerald Downs Drive, Auburn.

There will be live and silent auctions, raffles, games and a buffet dinner.

Doors will open at 5 p.m., with dinner at 7, followed by the raffle.

As a result of last year’s fundraising efforts throughout the state, the Friends of NRA Washington State Grant Fund Committee in January granted just under $250,000 to support firearm safety training, hunter education and the shooting sports. Organizations such as Hunter Education Programs, Boy Scouts, VFWs, 4H Clubs, FFAs, JROTCs, American Legions and other sport shooting organizations received grants. The grants were awarded based on need and the purpose of the NRA Foundation.

The purpose of the NRA Foundation – Friends of NRA, a non-profit, fully tax-deductible, charitable organization – is to support and fund youth education, firearms safety and training, hunter safety, marksmanship training, range development and improvements, and conservation projects.
