SEPT. 7

Aid call: 1:32 p.m., (Pacific). Station 38 received a walk-in aid call from a person complaining of cardiac symptoms. VRFA personnel asked for King County Medic-6 to respond and administered aspirin per King County protocol. Medic 6 treated the person and transported him or her to ARMC.

SEPT. 6

Assault: 2 a.m., (Auburn). VRFA units responded to the Muckleshoot Casino for injuries from an assault. Engine and Aid 32 crews stood by in the parking lot while Auburn police units and Muckleshoot Casino security kept things in check inside the building. VRFA personnel treated eight injured people for minor injuries. An ambulance transported one person to Auburn Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

SEPT. 5

Aid call: 2:24 p.m., (Lea Hill). Engine 34 responded to an injury report and found a three-month-old boy who had fallen off a kitchen counter. When personnel examined the boy, they determined he was acting appropriately. His parents took him to ARMC for follow-up with a pediatrician.

SEPT. 4

Service call: 9:50 a.m., (Auburn). Engine 31 responded to 222 2nd St. N.E. for a broken water pipe inside the Oncology Annex to Auburn Regional Medical Center. VRFA firefighters arrived to find that nursing staff had shut off the water, having braved the high pressure water to prevent further damage to the building. Maintenance had also arrived and called a plumber to fix the system. Firefighters ensured the system was shut down at a valve and offered further help, but the maintenance crew said no.

SEPT. 3

Reported shooting: 7:59 p.m., (Auburn). VRFA units responded with Auburn police to a reported shooting in the 4000 block of Auburn Way South. VRFA personnel stood by at the FAA Center while police secured the scene. Although there were many people there, there were no victims.

SEPT. 2

Vehicle into a Pole: 8:20 p.m., (Auburn). VRFA units responded to a truck that had run into a telephone pole in the 100 block of M Street N.E. Arriving units found the driver had left the vehicle, so they examined and treated him for minor injuries. An ambulance transported him to Auburn Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

SEPT. 1

Dive call: 4:27 p.m., (Lake Tapps). VRFA water rescue technicians responded with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and East Pierce Fire and Rescue for a mutual aid request to find a man who had disappeared while swimming in Lake Tapps. They recovered the man but couldn’t revive him.
