Fire & rescue blotter | Aug. 28

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 187 calls for service between Aug. 17 and Aug. 23, among them the following:

Aug. 17

Fire call: 6:14 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters hurried to investigate an arcing power line on Pacific Avenue South, then they stood by until Puget Sound Energy arrived.

Aug. 18

Car vs. bicycle: 3:23 p.m.,

(Auburn). Firefighters and Medic 6 personnel treated a boy who had been hit by a car while he was riding his bicycle in the 3000 block of Southeast 108th Avenue. King County Medic 6 transported the boy to Harborview Medical Center.

Aug. 19

Aid call: 10:15 p.m., (Auburn). Engine 38 and Medic 6 treated a patient who was vomiting, short of breath and had elevated blood sugar, then Medic 6 transported the patient to Auburn Regional Medical Center.

Aug. 20

CPR: 5:30 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and Medic 6 took over CPR from the nursing staff at a care facility. Firefighters used a defibrillator to shock the patient twice and Medic 6 transported the person to ARMC with a pulse and blood pressure.

Aug. 21

Motor vehicle collision:

4:31 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters provided aid to a patient who was involved in a motor vehicle collision in the 800 block of Auburn Way South. Firefighters released the patient at the scene.

Aug. 22

Vehicle accident: 6:23 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters treated a woman with an arm injury she had received when her vehicle crossed all lanes of traffic on Southbound Highway 167 and struck the center barrier. American Medical Response transported the woman to ARMC.

Aug. 23

Brush fire: 4:45 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters fought and snuffed a fast moving, 100’ X 100’ brush fire behind the Muckleshoot Smoke Shop. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
