Police blotter | Aug. 28

Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between Aug. 19 and Aug. 24:

Aug. 19

Vandalism: 12:39 p.m., 400 block of 37th Street Southeast. Police arrested a man for destroying several undisclosed items belonging to his girlfriend. Police did not disclose why the man did this.

Aug. 20

Coin thief: 10:15 a.m., 1204 E. Main St. Employees of the East Main Gas Mart reported that somebody stole coins from a compressed air machine. Police did not disclose a value.

Butter boosting: 13:31 p.m., 1007 Auburn Way S. Police arrested a man for shoplifting a small, $1.99 box of butter from the Pacific Farmer’s Market.

Shoplifting: 6 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. Beholding two women shoplifting items from the store, GAP employees stopped them from taking more stuff but store policy restricted them from confronting the thieves about the purloined items in their bags. Police obtained video of the incident but as of this writing had made no arrests.

Aug. 23

Theft from motor vehicle: 12:34 p.m., 1400 block of D Street Northeast. Subjects unknown stole a chainsaw of undisclosed value from the back of a pickup.

Vandalism: 5:35 p.m., 300 block of 37th Place Southeast. Somebody, or several somebodies, cut the gas lines on two vehicles.

Shoplifting: 6:53 p.m., 31207 124th Ave. SE. Somebody stole food and smokes from a Circle K.

Robbery: 11 p.m., 2900 block of Auburn Way South. A male employee of an undisclosed store reported that a youth wearing a black shirt and pants swiped two packs of beer. The employee confronted the robber, who promptly whipped out a can of mace and sprayed him in the face. Employees obtained a license plate of the suspect vehicle.

Aug. 24

Burglary: Overnight, 505 17th St. SE. Holy Family Church employees told police that someone stole a window air conditioner and a computer from an office overnight. Police did not disclose a value.

Recovered stolen vehicle: 10 a.m., 4000 block of Auburn Way North. Somebody or several somebodies stole a white, 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer out of Kent at 12:23 a.m., and by 10 a.m. it was found in Auburn stripped of its guts.

Theft from car: 11:58 a.m., 37th Street Northwest. An employee of an unnamed company reported that sometime over the weekend somebody stole about 10 gallons of gas from a company vehicle.

Vehicle theft: 1 p.m., 500 block of 182nd Avenue Southeast. Somebody stole a utility trailer from a construction site. Police did not disclose a value.

Some type of vandalism: 3:30 p.m., 30000 block of 124th Avenue Southeast. Somebody vandalized a vehicle of undisclosed make in an undisclosed way resulting in some type of damages.

Aug. 25

Officers helping officers: 2:50 a.m., 27300 block of 129th Place Southeast. An officer helped Kent police with an in-progress burglary. Police found two of the suspects right away, but a third fled into the woods, whereupon police called upon the skills of a K9 unit to sniff out bad dude No. 3 from his woodsy hiding place.
