Feb. 1

Aid call: 2:32 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to an elderly woman in cardiac arrest started CPR protocol with one defibrillator shock. The woman regained a heartbeat, and Medic 6 transported her to Auburn Regional Medical Center.

Feb. 2

Aid call: 8:14 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to the 2900 block of M Street Southeast of a bus-versus-bicycle accident found a boy with a minor leg injury, which he’d sustained after running into a school bus while riding his bike. The boy had been wearing a helmet, and his parents took him home.

Feb. 3

Aid call: 3:30 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters helped an elderly woman who had fallen while trying to take out the trash. An ambulance took the woman to St. Francis Medical Center in stable condition.

Feb. 4

Aid call: 8:23 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to northbound Highway 167 just south of 15th Street Southwest for an eye laceration. While conducting a traffic stop, a SeaTac police officer had noticed a two-inch laceration over the driver’s left eye. The driver would not reveal how he or she was cut and refused treatment.

Feb. 5

Oil spill: 1:20 p.m., (Auburn). VRFA firefighters arrived at C Street Southwest under Highway 18 to find a large spill of steering fluid, brake fluid, antifreeze and oil, the result of a car accident. Firefighters evaluated one of the drivers involved in the accident for injuries. The driver declined aid. Firefighters helped city crews with clean up.

Feb. 6

Smoke investigation: 5:15 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters learned of an illegal fire in a back-yard burn pit. Firefighters informed the resident of the requirements regarding outdoor burning. The resident put out the fire and said he would contact the Fire Department for the required permit in the future.

Feb. 7

Aid call: 9:24 a.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a man experiencing heart palpitations administered basic life support measures. After firefighters determined that the man was stable, an ambulance transported him to the University of Washington Hospital.
