Feb. 2

Theft: 4 p.m., 3600 block of I Street Northeast. Homeowners reported that two men who had expressed interest in buying their home took advantage of the situation and pocketed jewelry. The owner had listed the home for sale, and the men showed up without an appointment.

Shoplifting: 3:39 p.m., 1425 Supermall Way SW. Walmart store security caught two men shoplifting computer cable wires. Police did not disclose a value.

Vandalism: Midnight, 44 5th St. NE. Somebody painted blue graffiti on a refuse bin and fence at the Auburn Oaks Apartments.

Feb. 3

Theft of motorcycle: 9:08 p.m., 3400 block of O Street Southeast. A man posted his red-and-white Honda motorcycle for sale on Craigslist. A prospective buyer took the vehicle for a test drive around the block and never returned.

Theft: 4 p.m., 800 block of 26th Place Southeast. A man reported that sometime between September and February somebody stole a handgun of unknown make, model or serial number from his home. He suspects he knows who did the thieving.

Shoplifting: 5 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. Police arrested a man for stealing shoes and jeans from Marshall’s at the SuperMall. He used a pair of pliers to defeat the theft sensors, elevating his shoplifting to a retail theft with extenuating circumstances thus netting himself a class C felony. He was booked into the Auburn jail.

Car jacked: 11:45 a.m., 2200 block of I Street Northeast. A woman reported that her boyfriend threw a car jack through the back window of her car. Police did not disclose the damages.

Feb. 4

Possession of stolen vehicle: 1:17 p.m., 2600 block of M Street Northeast. A speeding vehicle failed to stop for an officer attempting to pull it over for the violation. The driver tried to elude pursuing police. The driver stopped in a residential area and fled on foot, but the law caught up with him a short distance away. An investigation found that the vehicle was an unreported stolen vehicle from Hertz Rental at SeaTac Airport. Police booked the driver into jail.

Burglary: Overnight, 1425 17th St. SE. Burglars hit the Green River Chiropractic Center overnight. Police did not disclose what was stolen or a value for it.

Theft from vehicle: 7:50 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. Somebody broke into a vehicle at the Supermall and stole a GPS navigation system, a laptop computer and a child’s DVD player. Police did not disclose a value.

Feb. 5

Theft of bicycle: 2:30 a.m., 110 block of 17th Street Southeast. Somebody stole a 10-year-old, 3-speed bicycle with a bright blue frame, silver fenders and a flat tire from the carport of a 71-year-old woman’s home in the dead of night.
