Feb. 22

Service call: 11:18 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to reports of water flowing from a wall in a garage learned from the owner that he had accidentally broken off the shut-off valve to the house. Firefighters shut down the water at the street and advised the home owner to call a plumber for the needed repairs.

Feb. 23

Dryer fire: 3:56 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to a dryer fire in the 700 block of 47th Street Southeast. Firefighters arrived to find that the apartment’s occupant had snuffed out the fire with a portable fire extinguisher. Firefighters used a portable fan to remove the smoke, moved the dryer outside and turned the apartment over to management.

Feb. 24

Aid call: 1:59 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters were helping a patient, no gender given, to a ambulance when the elevator malfunctioned. Firefighters and the patient waited about 30 minutes for additional firefighters and the King County Housing Authority to use an elevator key to free the trapped occupants. A private ambulance transported the patient to Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC) by a private ambulance.

Feb. 25

Aid call: 1:37 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to woman possibly having a seizure. Upon arrival firefighters found a distraught woman involved in a verbal domestic dispute who wanted her belongings removed from her apartment. Firefighters waited until Auburn police arrived and took over the scene. The patient did not require treatment.

Feb. 26

Accidental poisoning: 8:14 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responded to an accidental ingestion of a chemical used to treat aquariums. Firefighters found a man who had been cleaning his aquarium and treating his sick fish when he ingested some of the powder. Firefighters called Poison Control and determined that there was no serious health threat. The patient was left at home with his family

Feb. 27

Carbon monoxide leak: 8:31 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a report of a carbon monoxide detector alerting. The homeowner acted quickly to open the sliding glass door and get to fresh air. Puget Sound Energy sent an emergency technician to evaluate the water heater and furnace.

Feb. 28

Aid call: 4:29 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responded to a diabetic emergency. Engine 38 observed a confused woman with low blood sugar. Firefighters administered oral glucose, which improved the patient’s level of consciousness. She was given a sandwich and left at home with her husband to care for her.
