Hargrove sponsors Rainier Middle School student as House page

Rainier Middle School student Devyn Nelson traveled to Olympia last week and served as a page in the state House of Representatives.

47th District Rep. Mark Hargrove, R-Covington, sponsored Nelson.

Nelson resides in Auburn with her parents, Mark and Michelle. She enjoys swimming and water polo, and is also active in Girl Scouts.

While serving as a House page, Nelson attended page school every day, delivered messages and documents to legislators and staff, and fulfilled other tasks critical to the efficient operation of the Legislature.

“After reading glowing recommendations from one of her teachers, as well as her principal, I was really looking forward to meeting Devyn,” Hargrove said. “She represents her school and our district well, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to sponsor her as a page last week.”

Each year, students from around the state apply to participate in the House Page Program. To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $35 per day while serving in the program. For more information about the House Page Program, click here.
