Holman holds lead in Auburn City Council race

The combined King and Pierce counties' result for the Auburn City Council races showed retired police officer John Hayes Holman's lead over incumbent Virginia Haugen, Position 5, barely moving from where it had been late last week, at 53 percent to 47 percent as of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

In the other contested race, retired air traffic controller Wayne Osborne’s lead over Auburn locksmith Frank Lonergan held at 67 percent to 33 percent. Osborne and Lonergan fought for Position 7, held by Lynn Norman, who did not seek reelection.

Largo Wales, Position 1, and incumbent Bill Peloza, Position 3, ran unopposed. Wales will fill the seat now held by Sue Singer, who did not seek reelection.

In the contest for Auburn School District Board Position 2 now held by Craig Schumaker, who did not seek reelection, Anne Baunach maintained her commanding lead over Ryan Anderson, 63 percent to 37 percent. Board members Carol Helgerson and Ray Vefik ran unopposed.

The results won’t be certified until the first week of December.
