Miss Auburn and Miss Auburn’s Teen 2024 winners crowned

There were 10 Miss Auburn and 11 Miss Auburn Teen contestants who competed in each phase of competition.

A new Miss Auburn donned the crown Saturday night, Feb. 10, during the annual Miss Auburn and Miss Auburn’s Teen Scholarship Program at Auburn Performing Arts Center.

The 2024 title holders selected were Maddy Lindsay, Miss Auburn, whose platform on the community service initiative was Youth Serving Youth: The Importance of Youth Volunteerism. In the talent competition, she danced to “Dancing Queen” from Mamma Mia.

Maddie McCarthy, Miss Auburn’s Teen, had a community service initiative called Breaking the Silence: Advocating for Equitable & Accessible Music Education. In the talent competition, she did a vocal performance of “Speechless.”

The program runs from January-February and provides training in interview, talent, wardrobe selection and confidence. The young women competing also serve as mentors in the program’s non-competitive groups of ambassadors and “Emeralds.”

The program has awarded more than $25,000 in scholarships and has raised $2,500 for the Auburn Food Bank.

There were 10 Miss Auburn and 11 Miss Auburn Teen contestants who competed in each phase of competition, which were Private Interview, Talent, Health & Fitness, On-Stage Conversation and Evening Gown.

The Miss Auburn and Miss Auburn’s Teen Scholarship Program provides scholarship dollars as well as training and experience in leadership, interview skills, talent, self-confidence, poise and etiquette. Both programs are preliminaries to the state competitions for Miss Washington and Miss Washington’s Teen, whose winners will move on to compete at the national level for the title of Miss America and Miss America’s Teen, respectively.

The program exists because of the volunteers, sponsors, patrons and the business community who devote countless hours and/or generous financial contributions. The Auburn Noon Lions have been a strong foundation, both in recruiting patrons for financial support and providing volunteers to act as mock interview panelists during preparation as well as security and ushers the nights of the competitions.
