Marci George’s daughters and their friends decided to make Halloween more meaningful this year.

On Sunday evening, they collected food donations for the Auburn Food Bank in Lakeland Hills, instead of trick-or-treating for candy.

“To our surprise, they came home with over 175 pounds of canned goods and other items,” George said.

“We are very proud of them. … We wish to express our thanks to the folks in Lakeland Hills.”

The group dropped off the donations to the food bank later in the week.
