Auburn facility shines with facelift

Regency Auburn Rehabilitation Center, a fixture in Auburn’s assisted living community for more than 32 years, looks a little different these days.

The skilled nursing community facility at 17th Street Southeast recently celebrated a facelift. The renovation – wide and mainly cosmetic – cost nearly $1 million through a HUD loan and the joint efforts of ownership and Regency Pacific Inc.

“We’re lovin’ it,” said Jennifer Crawford, Regency Auburn administrator. “Our residents feel comfortable and right at home. Our staff feels comfortable and proud of the upgrade. They have something to show off.”

Regency Auburn sports a bright, colorful look throughout its hallways, rooms and offices. The renovation made way for fresh paint, new carpet, furnishing, wardrobe, dressers, curtains and wall decor. New, efficient lighting was raised into the ceilings.

Nursing stations, the restorative nursing room and rehab gym also were refurbished.

In addition, the upgrade brought in 68 new electric bends and new headboards and foot-ends to others. Some rooms sport new flat panel televisions. New landscaping graces the outside.

Staff celebrated the completion of the project, which began last August, with an open house last week.

Crawford would like to thank those in the community who helped Regency Auburn recover from damages sustained to the facility from flooding in February. About 70 patients were evacuated to nearby facilities after toilets on the second floor became geysers.

No one was injured. Repairs were made.
