Auburn Respite, a nonprofit adult day care program serving the community since 1988, has openings for senior participants.

The group meets every Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Auburn Senior Activity Center, 808 Ninth St. SE.

The program comprises five hours of companionship, music, reminiscing and social interaction in a safe and comfortable environment.

“The program allows the senior’s family caregivers a day of respite in which to recharge their ‘care-giving batteries,'” said Sheila Pankratz, program director. “This relief enables them to carry on as a caregiver to their family member, thus keeping the family member in the family home for as long as possible.

“And this is our goal … to keep families together.”
