Pawsitive Alliance, Humane Society join forces to boost adoptions, raise awareness

Some 40,000 to 60,000 adoptable cats and kittens, puppies and dogs are put to death in the state each year — because there is no room at the shelters.

By increasing adoptions, by supporting spay and neuter programs and by improving pet retention throughout the state, Pawsitive Alliance hopes to end these euthanizations.

You can help.

Come to the Auburn Valley Humane Society’s animal shelter between 12 and 6 p.m. Saturday for AVHS’ celebration and Pawsitive Alliance’s second annual Statewide Shelter Open House Event.

The goal is to shine a light not only on AVHS but also on other animal shelters throughout the state and the homeless animals in their care.

For the event, Pawsitive Alliance is working with more than a dozen animal shelters to promote and help them grow their adopter, donor and volunteer bases — and to raise awareness of the good work that they do on.

Animal welfare organizations involved in the event are: Auburn Valley Humane Society, Auburn Homeward Pet Adoption Center, Woodinville Humane Society of Skagit County, Burlington Metro Animal Services, Sumner/Puyallup Regional Animal Services of King County, Kent Thurston County—Joint Animals Services and the Olympia Wenatchee Valley Humane Society in Wenatchee.
