Pioneer Queen coronation set for June 20

Pioneer Queen Shirley March will relinquish her crown at 7 p.m. June 20, when a new Pioneer Queen, Pioneer Spirit of Auburn and Grand Marshall of the Auburn Days parade are announced.

Pioneer Queen Shirley March will relinquish her crown at 7 p.m. June 20, when a new Pioneer Queen, Pioneer Spirit of Auburn and Grand Marshall of the Auburn Days parade are announced.

The coronation is at the Auburn Senior Activity Center, 808 Ninth St. SE, Auburn. The event is free and open to the public.

Marge Gordon, Peggy Ice and Lydia Rivera have been nominated for Pioneer Queen this year.

The selection process is two interviews by a panel of seven consisting of: four past Pioneer Queens, March, Donnie Berry, Vickie Vallier and Gladys Paulus; Miss Auburn Victoria Knight and two at-large community members.

The Auburn Days parade and festival is Aug. 9-11.
