Auburn police responded to the following calls for service between July 16

and July 14:

JULY 16

Squeamish shoplifter: 6:10 p.m., 1702 Auburn Way N. Store security caught a woman at Top Foods trying to shoplift items. After the woman heard that police were being called, she fainted.

DUI alcohol or drugs: 11:46 a.m., 504 25th St. S.E. Police arrested a man for DUI after he drove around and through the Sierra Meadows apartment complex, nearly hitting a kid.

JULY 15

Controlled substance: 10:25 a.m., 1200 block of 4th Street Southeast. Police arrested a man during a traffic stop for selling methamphetamines.

Fraud: 12:47 p.m., 5500 block of Elizabeth Avenue Southeast. A man reported that while he was in Germany somebody, somehow, got their unauthorized mitts on his credit card and tried to use it at Pacific Auto and Credit in Bellevue.

Arson of uninhabited public property: 1 p.m., 2200 Auburn Way S. First an arsonist set a brush fire, then Auburn officers spotted the blaze and finally Valley Regional Fire Authority firefighters arrived on scene to snuff out said fire.

Warrant arrest: 8:51 p.m., 30th and I Street Northeast. Police arrested a man on a warrant after he was seen trying car doors in the Fred Meyer parking lot.

Theft from motor vehicle: 9:45 p.m., 500 block of 17th Street Southeast. Undefined objects were stolen from a vehicle of undescribed make and year, as noted by a victim of unknown gender who was no doubt sorry to lose whatever it was to thievery.

Obstructing justice: 11:56 p.m., 2200 block of Auburn Way North. Police arrested a male after he provided a false name to officers in connection with some sort of mystery incident.

Theft from motor vehicle: 11:59 p.m., 2402 Auburn Way S. Somebody broke into a commercial vehicle at the Muckleshoot Casino, then took off with the operator’s clothing, cash and a voltage meter.

Theft of property: 4 a.m., 2700 block of 18th Street Southeast. A resident reported that a GPS unit had been stolen from a locked work van sometime during the early morning hours of July 2.

JULY 14

Theft from vehicle: 7:10 a.m., 500 block of A Street Southeast. An employee of Puget Sound Energy reported that somebody had stolen a company laptop from a company truck.

Burglary interrupted: 8:14 a.m., 11200 block of Southeast 314th Place. Three guys tried to burglarize a home, but the owner’s teenage son saw the would-be burglars trying to remove a screen from a living room window. When the bad guys saw the keen-eyed kid observing them, they fled on foot through the back yard, hopped a fence and got away.

Vandalism: 5:30 a.m., 3400 block of West Valley Highway North. Somebody drilled the gas tanks on two business vans and stole the gasoline.
