Police blotter | Aug. 7

The Auburn Police Department responded to the following calls, among many others, between July 29 and Aug. 2:

July 29

Burglary: Overnight, 1409 30th St. SE. Someone entered the pool area of the Windsor Park Apartments, tried to break into the chemical shed, bent the metal door in the process and vanished into the night.

Theft: 12:55 p.m., 945 22nd St. NE. A thief stole $620 from somebody’s wallet at the Auburn Meadows Senior Community Center.

Scammed: 3:03 p.m., 4200 block of A Street Southeast. A man lost $700 to a secret shopper Internet scam police believe was run out of London, England.

Felony eluding: 7:46 p.m., 20 block of 15th Street Northeast. Police arrested a man for trying to elude police after he led them on an 18-mile-plus pursuit. Police arrested the guy’s passenger for possession of equipment with which to imbibe illegal substances.

Theft: 8:47 p.m., 700 block of 6th Street Northwest. Police arrested an ex-employee of a local trucking company for theft of a motor vehicle after driving a company semi truck with two trailers without permission. The ex-employee had quit moments prior to taking the truck. Washington State Patrol located the truck with trailers and took the man into custody. The ex-employee later admitted to quitting and then taking the truck, but said he was only driving it back to to the company’s station in Mountlake Terrace where his personal vehicle was.

July 30

Obstructing justice: 1:26 a.m., 500 block of 50th Street Southeast. Police tried to arrest a man wanted on warrants at his mother’s house, but he refused commands to give himself up. As police were trying to get into the house, the guy jumped out of a second-story window at the back of the house, initiating a police stand-off that lasted 45 minutes. Police finally arrested the man for obstruction and resisting arrest.

July 31

Strong arm robbery: 5:48 p.m., 500 block of Auburn Way South. During a drug deal in a car, two guys robbed a third guy of drugs or money. The assaulted party took exception to being robbed, got out of the car and went at his assailants with a knife, opening up six wounds in one of them. Police arrested all three males, one for assault, two for robbery.

Aug. 1

Theft from motor vehicle: Overnight, 1700 block of 22nd Street Northeast. A woman parked her vehicle on the street near her house with the windows partially down, and some thief entered the vehicle and stole her GPS. Police did not give a value.

Aug. 2

Scarf and scram: 1:05 p.m., 1044 Supermall Way SW. Two 17-year-old girls, one with blonde hair, the other with pink, ran from the IHOP restaurant without paying their $26 tab and fled in a two-tone, silver, 1990s-type Ford Explorer.

Gunshots: 7:50 p.m., 31000 block of 104th Avenue Southeast. Several guys got into a fight, the excitement reaching such a fevered pitch that somebody fired several shots into the air. No one was hurt.
