Auburn police responded to the following calls for service between Dec. 18 and Dec. 21:

DEC. 18

Burglary: 6:15 a.m., 100 block of 37th Street Northeast. Somebody broke into a storage shed on the

RTS Roof Truss Supply property sometime between Dec. 15 and

Dec. 18, but took nothing.

DUI alcohol or drugs: 6:56 p.m., 101 Auburn Way S. A highly-liquored up man drove up to the gas pumps at Safeway and asked for directions to Tacoma. After repeating directions to the drunken dude a few times, the clerk decided the guy was so blitzed he should call police. Police found the driver behind the wheel, engine running and arrested him for driving under the influence. The driver refused a breath test after getting too feisty. The police also learned that the driver’s license had been suspended for an unpaid ticket. He also had a warrant out of Tacoma for another DUI. Police booked him into the Auburn Jail.

Theft: 8:22 p.m., 1900 block of 19th Place Southeast. Somebody plucked two garden gnomes from a yard and ran off with the treasure. Police did not disclose a value.

Alcohol offense: 8:47 p.m., 2402 Auburn Way S. Police arrested a 19-year-old man for being a minor frequenting a tavern, making a bogus statement and lying about his date of birth.

Assault: 11:38 p.m., 2402 Auburn Way S. Police arrested a man for domestic violence after he struck his live-in girlfriend in the upper chest with his hand at the Muckleshoot Casino.

Assault: 11:456 p.m., 300 block of East Main Street. A female, age a police mystery, told police that her boyfriend had tried to strangle her several days earlier.

Assault: 11:24 p.m., 500 block of 37th Street Southeast. Police arrested a man for domestic violence, then tacked on an obstruction charge when they found him cowering in a closet. They couldn’t get him to exit, and had to lay the hands of the law upon him to get him out.

Assault: 9:44 p.m., 12700 block of Southeast 296th Way. A man assaulted his ex-lady love during an argument at her residence, then fled in his car and could not be found.

DEC. 20

Theft: 100 block of 10th Street Northeast. Somebody stole binoculars from an empty senior housing apartment, which its owner had vacated because of flooding.

Theft: 6:43 p.m., 801 Auburn Way N. A man dropped a cashed payroll check in the amount of $1,300 near Fred Meyer, and when he returned it was missing.

DEC. 21

DUI alcohol or drugs: 1:50 p.m., 300 block of 15th Street Northeast. Police arrested a man at the Iron Horse Casino for driving under the influence of intoxicating beverages and for possession of 40 grams or less of marijuana.

Assault: 5:15 a.m., 300 block of 37th Place Southeast. Police said nothing about this pre-Christmas assault, preferring to keep it under wraps.
