Police Blotter | Jan. 15

Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between Jan. 6 and Jan. 11.

Jan. 6

Auto theft: 8:07 a.m., 900 block of C Street Southeast. The owner of a ‘93 Plymouth Voyager mini-van told police that somebody had stolen his vehicle overnight and abandoned it in front of his home.

Fraud: Midnight, 700 block of 37th Street Southeast. Someone tried to use an Auburn resident’s credit card to buy a cell phone, but the intended victim caught wind of what was happening in time and deleted said sale.

Theft: 5:12 p.m., 1231 Auburn Way N. Some unknown thief stole an undisclosed sum of money from Rite Aid. Police did not actually say how this occurred.

Jan. 7

Vandalism: 9:30 a.m., 1000 block of Auburn Way North. Some yahoo as yet unknown chucked rocks through a window. Police did not disclose the amount of damage.

Fraud: Overnight, 31300 block of 112th Avenue Southeast. A resident of Auburn reported that an unidentified person called her and tried to weasle her bank account information from her by convincing her that there had already been bogus activity on her account and he or she needed the information to correct it.

Theft: 9:59 a.m., 1416 Harvey Road N.E. A person or persons unknown stole cash and a cell phone from employees at Walgreens. Police did not disclose the amount of the loss.

Shoe stealers: 5:40 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way S.W. Police arrested two boys for swiping a pair of shoes from Zumiez in the Supermall. They were identified and released at the scene.

Jan. 8

DUI alcohol or drugs: 12:20 a.m., 710 Auburn Way S. Police arrested and booked a woman for DUI after she backed into an off-duty corrections officer in the Taco Bell drive through. The woman later failed to provide adequate breath samples.

Assault no weapon, aggravating injury: 12:48 a.m., 510 M St. S.E. Police arrested a man for trying to strangle somebody at the Park Apartments.

Burglary: 3:24 a.m., 1005 37th St. S.E. In the words of police, “burglary to Gildo Ray Elementary.” Police provided no other details.

Jan. 10

Shoplifting: 6:44 a.m., 1156 Auburn Way S. A man shoplifted a cell phone charger from Chevron at 1156 Auburn Way S then left the area in a newer model Ford Focus, unknown license plate.

Vandalism: 10 a.m., 2925 Auburn Way N. Somebody or several somebodies smashed a window on a customer’s vehicle at Tom Matson Dodge.

Jan. 11

Wrong place to draw attention to oneself: 2:43 a.m., 340 E. Main St. Police arrested a male person after he drove through the secure parking lot of the police station. Turns out the man was
