Police blotter | Jan. 9

Auburn police responded to the following calls for service between Jan. 1 and Jan. 6:

JAN. 1

Theft: Noon, 1101 Supermall Way SW. Fuego at the Supermall is missing a bank deposit. Police didn’t specify the amount.

JAN. 2

Strong arm robbery:

10 a.m., 900 block of Auburn Way North. A man told police that several days earlier, a robber – or perhaps a gang of them, police didn’t say – had stolen cash from his pocket then pushed him to the ground, aggravating an existing neck injury. The man said he did not report the incident at first because he didn’t want to pursue the matter, but he changed his mind when a social worker told him that he could file for crime victims’ assistance.

JAN. 3

Burglary: 5:30 p.m., 31400 block of 117th Place Southeast. Somebody broke into a home through the front door and swiped a watch. Police did not disclose a value.

JAN. 5

Theft: 10:48 a.m., 2402 Auburn Way South. Somebody stole the undisclosed contents of a backpack its owner had placed into a snowdrift for safekeeping.

Drug equipment: 12:48 p.m., Kersey Way. Somebody, police didn’t say who, found the remains of a meth lab dumped alongside the road.

Assault: 2:43 p.m.,

700 block of 15th Street South Southwest. One man assaulted another man in some way during a road rage incident, but was gone by the time police arrived. As for any details beyond these bald facts, police weren’t in the mood to offer.

Shoplifting: Midnight, 4010 A St. SE. A loss prevention officer at Albertsons reported that he or she had discovered surveillance footage of two previous shoplift incidents on Nov. 29 and Dec. 2, showing the same person stealing merchandise from the store. Although police didn’t know the shoplifter, his method and the items he swiped matched those of a known thief from other shoplift incidents at the same store and others in Auburn.

Assault: 4:26 p.m., 936 Auburn Way S. A boy fought three other juveniles at Auburn Youth Resources, injuring two females.

Assault: 3:30 p.m., 3030 R St. SE. A 10-year-old boy was riding his bike home through Game Farm Park when three guys between 15 and 18 years old pulled up in a black Honda Accord. The bad guys tried to take the bike, but the kid was able to kick one of them in the groin, then jump on his bike to ride away. One of the other males caught

up to the kid, however,

and tried to throw him

into a garbage can. The kid fought hard, and got his bike back. A police vehicle drove by at about that time and the assailants scattered. The boy rode his bike home without flagging down the officer.

Arson: 11:50 p.m., 500 block of 10th Street Southeast. Somebody or several somebodies tried to torch an unoccupied parked vehicle. A citizen who had just dropped a neighbor off from work saw the burning vehicle and extinguished the fire. The vehicle’s driver-side front fender and tire sustained damage.

JAN. 6

Assault with a knife:

1:10 p.m., 101 Auburn Way S. Police arrested a man for assaulting two individuals with a small knife. One of the victims sustained a minor cut on his right wrist but refused medical attention.
