Police blotter | Sept. 4

Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between Aug. 29 and Sept. 1:

Aug. 29

Vandalism: 5 p.m., 100 block of East Main Street. An Auburn resident complained that while his or her family was on vacation, somebody slashed two tires on the family vehicle parked in a downtown Auburn parking lot.

Aug. 30

Vandalism: 1:08 p.m., 6th Street Southeast. A married couple were arguing about money when the husband threw a set of keys at a big screen TV, breaking it. He then took prescribed medication above the recommended dosage and talked about killing himself. He was taken to Auburn Regional Medical Center for treatment, then cited for malicious mischief and domestic violence. His wife was unhurt.

Theft: 12:32 p.m., 1000 block of Harvey Road Northeast. Somebody stole cigarettes, prescription bottles and a pair of shades from a backyard table. Police did not disclose a value.

Bush man: 6:29 p.m., 3400 block of Stuck River Drive Southeast. While police were investigating reports of someone yelling for help from the bushes in the area of Feature Farms, a man emerged from said bushes and commenced fleeing from officers. But the lawmen were too quick for the fugitive and caught up with him after a short foot chase. Police soon discovered that the man had three Auburn warrants to his name. He was plastered as well, and was apparently the one who had been raising all the ruckus from the bushes.

Aug. 31

Vandalism: Overnight, 31100 block of 108th Avenue Southeast. A man reported that somebody broke the window to his excavator. Police did not disclose a value.

Shoplifting: 12:54 p.m., 1702 Auburn Way N. Police arrested two youths for shoplifting a bottle of wine from Top Foods.

Shoplifting: 8:03 p.m., 1702 Auburn Way N. Police arrested two women for shoplifting $139.75 worth of items from Top Foods.

Shoplifting: 8:37 p.m., 1156 Auburn Way S. A teenager stole an 18-pack of beer from a gas station convenience store and fled into an adjacent park. Police could not find the thief when they checked the area, but the store had security video of the incident.

Weapons offense: 11:50 p.m., 1400 block of 8th Street Northeast. Apartment dwellers reported hearing several gunshots in the area around their domiciles. Police found a total of six shell casings in the area a short time later.

Sept. 1

Burglary: 8 a.m., 30908 124th Ave. SE. Somebody chucked a rock through a portable window at Lea Hill Elementary School, and opened the window to the portable but apparently took nothing.

Robbery with firearm: 10:10 a.m., 2400 block of F Street Southeast. A man who had been asked to leave a Metro Bus assaulted the driver while he was taking transfers. Police arrested him.

Theft: 2:45 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. Somebody stole a stereo from a vehicle in the parking lot at the Supermall.

Prowl: 9:46 p.m., 800 block of 8th Street Southeast. Somebody saw a guy getting into a pick up truck in a suspicious manner, but it appears the guy took nothing.
