Puyallup woman dies in motorcycle crash

A 51-year-old Puyallup woman died as a result of a fatal traffic collision at approximately 6:11 p.m. April 27 in Auburn.

The 51-year-old woman died at the scene southbound on State Route 167, north of State Route 18, after a second vehicle collided with her motorcycle.

According to a news release from the Washington State Patrol, the second vehicle failed to stop after the woman slowed for traffic, striking her motorcycle from behind. The second vehicle veered into another lane and arrived at a stop with the woman underneath.

The collision resulted in a 3.5-hour roadway closure, with traffic passing through the carpool lane.

According to the state patrol, the driver of the second vehicle, a 39-year-old Puyallup man, faces pending charges. The 39-year-old experienced no injuries from the incident.

The state patrol reported the incident resulted from speed, following too closely and driver inattention.
