A dedicated volunteer force from Wesley Homes of Lea Hill cut, sewed and pressed more than 200 pillowcases for an Auburn Valley YMCA drive to bring comfort to patients at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.

“They have phenomenal energy, perseverance and commitment,” said Helena Hanna, project organizer, of the Wesley Homes crew. “We had about nine machines going at once.”

About 30 seamstresses donated more than 425 hours of labor to complete the one-month project. They bettered last year’s output of 127 pillowcases.

The pillowcases will be collected and distributed to patients at Mary Bridge. Patients receive the pillowcases during treatment and can take them home.
