Auburn-area members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints participated in a National Day of Service on Sept. 15.

Among the many acts of service throughout the Auburn area was one project by the Lake Holm Ward that focused on historic Neely Mansion, where more than 100 volunteers, young and old, made repairs, painted, restored significant landscaping and cleaned up.

Rod Call, one of the local LDS bishops, expressed his appreciation for all those who made a difference in their community.

“It is hard to personally get to know everyone in a community, but we can still be connected through individual and community service to each other.”

Karen Meador, Linda Van Nest and Hilda Meryhew appreciated the work on behalf of the Neely Mansion Board in a statement:

“Accomplishing this amount of work in such a short time is a great blessing and no small feat. It looks beautiful.”

Volunteers worked a total of 300 hours on the project.
