Rainier Middle School students in Joni Flory’s community service class volunteered at the Feb. 13 Seattle Sings for Haiti concert benefiting the people of Haiti.

The students created ribbons in the colors of the Haitian flag and sold them during the event.

All proceeds from the sales will help pay for medical care of patients being treated at St. Damien Hospital in Haiti. The money raised from the concert also will provide clean drinking water, food and supplies to the people of Haiti.

Meanwhile, the Auburn High School Troy Crew collected more than $1,500 in cash donations during a “Miracle Minute” fundraiser on Jan. 27. Seventy-two leadership students collected money in every classroom during the last minute of sixth period. Students generously gave back to the people of Haiti and donated all of the proceeds to World Vision’s Haiti relief efforts.
