Students to compete in robotics showdown at Auburn

A field of about 1,000 students throughout the state competes in the Pacific Northwest District FIRST Robotics Competition on Saturday and Sunday at Auburn High School, 711 E. Main St.

A field of about 1,000 students throughout the state competes in the Pacific Northwest District FIRST Robotics Competition on Saturday and Sunday at Auburn High School, 711 E. Main St.

Opening ceremonies begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday, followed by matches. Final rounds and the awards ceremony are Sunday.

The free event is open to the public.

Washington FIRST Robotics is sponsoring the event.

Washington FIRST Robotics, a nonprofit organization, ignites youthful minds through education, hard work, mentorship and healthy competition. There are more than 11,000 students participating throughout the state with more than 6,000 coaches, mentors and volunteers.
