For the Reporter
Members of the Renton South King Retired School Employees Association, Unit 19, may be retired school employees, but their advocacy on behalf of students never dies as evidenced by their upcoming tea in partnership with the Neely Mansion Association.
This Sunday’s tea party at the Neely Mansion in Auburn supports the employees association’s mini grant fund for the upcoming year. The association encompasses the Auburn, Kent, Tahoma, Enumclaw and Renton school districts.
Unit 19 has provided help for local teachers and school employees for the past several years by awarding mini grants to fund educational classroom projects not necessarily funded by the school districts.
The association recently awarded mini grants to Tiffany Park Elementary in Renton, thereby contributing to the continued education of local students. All community members are invited to attend. Whether you are newly retired or just now looking to get involved, connecting with other retired school employees is a good way to start.
Seatings at noon and 1:30 p.m. are limited and reservations are a must.
Entertainment will be provided throughout the sessions with tours of the mansion and newly renovated furoba, or bathhouse, by docents of the Neely Mansion.
Neely Mansion is at 12303 SE Auburn-Black Diamond Road, Auburn.
Cost is $15 per person with advance purchase tickets available for either session.
