Teen calls 911 to report herself as a drunken driver

A young Auburn woman pulled over to the shoulder of State Route 167 in King County early Monday morning and called 911 to report a “very drunk” driver on the loose — herself.

When the Washington State Patrol got a look at and whiff of 19-year-old Alysha McInnis, they agreed with her conclusion and arrested her for being drunk and in control of a motor vehicle.

Washington State Patrol Communications reported receiving a cellular call from McInnis at 5 a.m., declaring that she had stopped on the shoulder of southbound Valley Freeway in Auburn because she was drunk and had started to lose her vision.

According to the WSP, she told the dispatcher that she was underage and very intoxicated. She allegedly told the dispatcher that somebody had given her alcohol at a party without her knowledge and that friends had advised her to call 911 to have police come pick her up and take her to the hospital to dry out.

McInnis reportedly told the responding trooper that her arm was numb and her vision was blurry. The trooper observed that McInnis’ eyes were bloodshot and watery and her speech was slurred. The trooper saw a 20-ounce alcohol energy drink in the cup holder, which contained 12-percent alcohol.

McInnis allegedly told the trooper that she had been drinking while driving and that she had downed four of the same drinks at the party. After further investigation, the trooper, satisfied that all the symptoms were the byproduct of the quantity of alcohol McInnis had consumed at the party and on her way home, arrested her.

McInnis was processed for physical control of a motor vehicle while intoxicated and transported to Auburn Regional Medical Center where she was released for detox treatment.
