Traveling Memorial Vietnam Wall to visit Auburn as part of Veterans Day weekend activities

The Wall – a traveling, three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. – will be going through the downtown streets at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

A police motorcade will escort the Wall, leaving the Peppertree Hotel on C Street and proceeding down Main Street, turning left onto Auburn Way South to the Veterans Park.

The public is encouraged to attend.

The Wall exhibit will set down in the leafy shade of Auburn’s Veterans Memorial Park, 411 E St. NE, Thursday through Sunday, in conjunction with Auburn’s 45th annual Veterans Day Parade and Observance.

The exhibit will be open to the public 24 hours a day from Thursday-Sunday.

Widely known as “The Wall That Heals,” the replica displays the names of 58,249 men and women killed or missing in action from the Vietnam War conflict, including 1,116 from Washington state, 13 of those from Auburn.

The Wall That Heals exhibit will feature the dramatic replica stretching nearly 250 feet in total length as well as an information center and traveling museum, displaying memorabilia left at The Wall in Washington, D.C.
