Two people lost their hands on July 4 in separate fireworks accidents near the Muckleshoot Casino on Auburn Way South.

Kelly Tyson, a public information officer for the Valley Regional Fire Authority, on Tuesday morning described one of the injured as a man in his 40s and the other as a teenage boy.

“The two incidents happened within a half-hour of each other, the first at 10:25 p.m. and the other at 10:56 p.m. We got a call for a report of hand injuries. Both patients were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center,” Tyson said.

The condition of neither person has been disclosed.

The first accident happened at a fireworks stand near the casino, the secpnd near the bingo hall.

Tyson said apart from those incidents, July 4, 2016 was a relatively mild night for firefighters.

“We just had a few little brush fires, but it was nothing like last year, when it was really hot and dry,” Tyson said.

As of Tuesday morning, the VRFA had not compiled statistics on the number and types of its responses.
