Firefighters from the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded at 7:03 p.m. last Friday to an unknown type fire in the 1200 Block of M Street Southeast.

Arriving units found a significant sized brush fire that was located just east of the address in the Miles Sand & Gravel Pit. Fire crews made a quick attack on the fire containing it to the gravel pit and protecting nearby structures.

The brush fire was extinguished and the burned out area was overhauled.

There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The fire is currently under investigation.
