King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer is sponsoring a free document shredder truck and hosting a town hall meeting to address identity theft issues at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Valhalla Elementary School, 27847 42nd Ave. S., Auburn.
The meeting brings together law enforcement members and other stakeholders to discuss identity theft prevention and remediation. Speakers include Rose Torgerson, director of training with the Washington Coalition of Crime Victim Advocates, as well as representatives from the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.
“I want my neighbors to know what they can do to protect themselves from identity theft, von Reichbauer said. “This town hall will highlight the resources available to people to assist them if their private information is compromised.”
